IBM Power11 S1112 - A Fantastic New Option for IBM i Customers
3 August 2026 - 2 Minute Read
IBM has recently announced the new IBM Power S1112, a compact deskside server built on the latest Power11 technology. We believe it's an excellent solution for organisations still running IBM i on older Power6, Power7, Power8, Power9 or even early Power5 servers.
Many businesses rely on IBM i because it is one of the most reliable business platforms ever developed. The challenge isn't the applications, it's that the underlying hardware and operating system have often fallen out of support.
The new Power S1112 provides an affordable and straightforward upgrade path, supporting the latest IBM i releases (7.4 and 7.5), modern DDR5 memory, high-speed NVMe storage, PowerVM virtualisation and IBM's latest security and resilience features, all within a compact, quiet deskside server.
At Baby Blue IT, we're currently helping a customer who has successfully run an IBM Power6 server for over 15 years. They're now looking at making a single leap straight to the new Power11 platform, allowing them to continue running the IBM i applications they depend on while moving back onto fully supported hardware and software.
That's exactly why we're so excited about the Power S1112. It gives IBM i customers a cost-effective way to modernise without replacing the applications that have reliably supported their businesses for years.
Whether you're running a Power5, Power6, Power7, Power8 or Power9 system, Baby Blue IT can help with planning, IBM i operating system upgrades, licence transfers, migration services, new Power11 supply, and ongoing IBM hardware and software support.
If your IBM Power server is reaching the end of its life, now is the perfect time to discover what IBM Power11 can do for your business.
